Wydad Casablanca won thanks to Zouheir El Moutaraji, who scored twice. The 26-year-old left foot first surprised Al Ahly with a long shot into the top corner of Mohamed El Shenawy’s net (1-0), while Guy Mbenza had seen his shot hit the crossbar four minutes earlier.
Walid Regragui’s troops won the CAF Champions League for the third time in the club’s history (after 1992 and 2017). Wydad, who was semi-finalist last year (eliminated against Kaizer Chiefs), is still in the running to take three trophies this season: Championship (4 points ahead of Raja in Botola), Cup (quarter-final against Raja) and Champions League.
